A British Military veteran commemorated his 100th birthday on Thursday with an further celebration: he declared he has lifted $38 million for physicians and nurses combating the coronavirus, just by proving he can stroll 100 laps all-around his 82-foot-extensive back garden in Bedfordshire.

Capt. Tom Moore, who uses a walker, completed the challenge on April 16, perfectly forward of his April 30 birthday. His initial objective was $1,200.

“You truly are an inspiration,” the British Military tweeted Thursday.

“His mature knowledge, no-nonsense mindset and humor in adversity make him an inspirational part design to generations youthful and outdated,” added Mark Carleton-Smith, its main of the typical team.

The U.K. Ministry of Defense also announced Thursday that Moore has been appointed initial Honorary Colonel of the Military Foundation School Harrogate.

To assist celebrate the milestone birthday, properly-wishers from all around the earth have sent Moore more than 125,000 cards – like Queen Elizabeth II.

Elevated in Yorkshire, Moore properly trained as a civil engineer before enlisting in the army for the duration of Earth War II. He rose to the rank of captain and served in India and Burma.
