An outbreak of coronavirus instances has been documented at the College of Washington’s Greek Row, the school reported Friday.

The community college in Seattle stated that it verified that at least 89 fraternity home residents have tested optimistic for COVID-19, the disease induced by the virus. Four college students who do not reside on Greek Row but experienced contact with people have also analyzed good.

The Interfraternity Council, a university student-led governing board for the school’s fraternities, stated that at minimum 117 people living in 15 fraternity homes have self-noted that they have the virus. The faculty said it is nonetheless hoping to verify these instances.

Dr. Geoffrey Gottlieb, chair of the university’s Advisory Committee on Communicable Illnesses, said in a statement that the variety of situations is about and “reminds us that outbreaks can speedily spiral.”
